Driving Up to the Penguin
This quilt honors an iconic Charlotte (North Carolina) landmark. For over half a century the Penguin Drive-In was a gathering place where suited bankers, construction workers, and Hell’s Angels could rub shoulders and indulge everything from fried dill pickles to Brunswick stew.
Materials: commercial cotton fabrics, cotton batting, cotton and polyester thread.
Techniques: images printed on fabric, machine pieced and quilted
