Charlotte Dines I

This quilt celebrates the modest restaurants that once formed the foundation of Charlotte's mid 20th century dining scene. "The Coffee Cup" (Charlotte's first integrated restaurant and Anderson's (which claimed to have "The Best Pecan Pie in the World") no longer exist. Nonetheless, Dairy Queen remains as a gather spot for young and old on hot summer evenings.

Materials: commercial cotton fabrics, cotton batting, cotton and polyester thread

Techniques: Images printed on fabric, machine pieced and quilted.
