Ginkgo Haiku

“Leafy fans flutter,
   the end and the beginning…
called by autumn’s song.”

These black and white Ginkgo leaves symbolize the growing season near its end, when leaves have reached their full maturity and strength.  A season is passing, but this is a quilt of triumph and hope.  When the leaves fall, they’ll nourish the soil for future generations and become part of an ongoing cycle of life.

Materials: commercial cotton fabric;  cotton batting and fusible polyester interfacing;    cotton, polyester, and metallic thread

Techniques:  Fused appliqué;  machine pieced and quilted.
